After college a gallery owner told Barbara, “I wouldn't have time to look at your work or space to show it if you were Rembrandt himself.”

Barbara famously took her creative spirit to opening her own business and started designing lamps. Barbara Cosgrove is now best known for her eponymous lighting line. Her lamps are coveted by some of the top interior designers in the industry. She is known for lamps with great proportions and confident scale. The sophistication and elegance come from the directness and simplicity of details. Limiting the lamps to the most straight forward elements results in lamps that look fabulous in the ball room or the game room.

In 2019 the pull of her studio became too much to resist. Barbara Cosgrove Lamps closed its doors at the height of popularity. Barbara returned to her first love: the arts. She now paints full time in her studio at Lake Lotawana, MO.
